Accessing cPanel from the Dashboard

To get started with file management, you’ll first need to access your cPanel. Here's how:

Once you’re inside cPanel, you’ll be able to manage your files through FTP or the File Manager directly.

Creating and Managing FTP Accounts

FTP accounts allow you to securely upload, download, and manage your website’s files remotely. Here’s how to create and manage FTP accounts in cPanel:

Creating a New FTP Account

1. Inside cPanel, scroll down to the "Files" section.
2. Click on "FTP Accounts".
3. In the Add FTP Account section:
   • Username: Enter a username for the new FTP account.
   • Password: Create a strong password for the account.
   • Directory: Specify the directory this FTP account will have access to (you can leave this blank if you want the account to have access to all files).
   • Quota: Set the storage limit for this FTP account (or leave it as unlimited).
4. Click Create FTP Account.

Managing Existing FTP Accounts

You can also manage your existing FTP accounts from the FTP Accounts section:

1. Scroll down to the "FTP Accounts" list.
2. From here, you can:
   • Change passwords for any FTP account.
   • Delete an account if it’s no longer needed.
   • Modify the quota for existing accounts to limit or expand their access.
     
     

Connecting to File Management via FTP

Once you’ve created your FTP account, you’ll need to connect it to an FTP client to transfer files. Follow these steps to connect your FTP account using popular FTP clients like FileZilla, Cyberduck, or WinSCP:

1. Open your preferred FTP client (e.g., FileZilla).
2. In the connection settings, enter the following information:
   • Host: Your domain name or the server’s IP address.
   • Username: The FTP account username you created.
   • Password: The password associated with your FTP account.
   • Port: Use port 21 for FTP connections.
3. Click Quickconnect or Connect to access your site’s files.
   
   

Once connected, you can easily upload, download, and manage your website files remotely using the FTP client.

Managing Files with the cPanel File Manager

If you prefer not to use an FTP client, you can manage your files directly from the File Manager in cPanel.

Accessing the File Manager

1. Inside cPanel, go to the "Files" section.
2. Click on "File Manager".
3. The File Manager interface will open, where you can navigate through your website’s files, edit, upload, or delete files directly.
   
   

Using the File Manager

• Navigating Folders: Use the left panel to navigate through different directories, such as your website’s root folder (public_html).
• Uploading Files: Click "Upload" in the top menu to add new files to your directory.
• Editing Files: To make changes to a file, right-click the file and select "Edit" or "HTML Edit" for HTML, PHP, or other code files.
• Creating Folders or Files: Click "New Folder" or "New File" to create new directories or files within your site.
